Museums
Shinminato Museum: A nice local artist museum in Shinminato.
Oshimacho: A small, cute children’s book museum. You can make your own stationary.
Toyama Art Museum: A modern art museum, just off Rt. 41.
Ikiyoe: Close to Toys-R-Us on the way to Kureha you can find this museum, which features old pictures.
Suiboku Museum: Just after the big bridge towards Toyama University, if you take a right you will find this museum. There are many pictures here and a lot of calligraphy is featured too.
Tateyama Museum: Here you can view a great (but maybe scary) movie about the history of Tateyama. It tells you about the first person to climb the mountain. Then a short walk from this area you can visit a representation of heaven and hell. The exhibits are quite interesting and if you enjoy modern art you will definitely like this exhibition.
Tonami Museum: Located in the Tonami Tulip Park, this museum often has interesting exhibits of artists from around the world.
Fukumitsu Museum: A small but well-formed museum which gets interesting exhibits. Permanent collection includes a lot of work by Munakata Shikoh, a prominent Japanese artist in the last century who was famous for his print-work and actually lived in Fukumitsu for several years. His house has been turned into a museum
